The Sunday night affair in Week 10 is an NFC East showdown with huge implications for the two teams involved. After falling at home 28-14 to the Tennessee Titans in Week 9, the edict for the 3-5 Dallas Cowboys is clear—win this game or else. The Cowboys are already two games back of the division-leading Redskins with a head-to-head loss.
Were the Cowboys to drop this game and fall to 3-6, it could take winning out to have any shot at making the postseason. Not likely given the Cowboys issues on offense this season—issues that don’t appear to have been magically fixed with the trade that brought wide receiver Amari Cooper to Dallas.
The Philadelphia Eagles made a trade of their own recently, bringing over wideout Golden Tate from Detroit. We’ve yet to see Tate in action for the 4-4 Eagles, but after taking down the Jaguars in London in Week 8 to get back to .500, the Eagles enter a crucial six-week stretch that includes four NFC East games and matchups at the Saints and Rams (ouch) just one game out of first in the division. The Eagles even getting the opportunity to defend their Super Bowl title in this year’s postseason tournament is far from certain.
The stakes couldn’t be higher at Lincoln Financial Field Sunday in what should be one heck of a game.
