There wasn’t a more impressive performance in the Wild Card Round than the way the Los Angeles Chargers handled the Ravens in Baltimore. Playing one of the hottest teams in the NFL (and a team that thumped the Bolts in LA in Week 16) the Chargers completely shut down Baltimore’s vaunted rushing attack by employing seven defensive backs most of the game. The final score of the game (23-17) really isn’t indicative of how well LA played.
This week, however, the Chargers face an even taller order—a trip to Gillette Stadium to face the reigning AFC champions. Beating the New England Patriots in Foxborough in January is more than difficult—it’s next to impossible. Since Gillette opened in 2002, the Pats have played 21 home playoff games. The team has lost three—none since 2012.
Oh, and the Patriots are also a perfect 8-0 at Gillette in 2018.
